When the conversation turns to what you do, make sure you have a clear and concise value proposition. You might be familiar with the “elevator pitch” concept. You basically want a 1-2 sentence line that sums up what you’re currently working on and the value it provides. It can be extra powerful to tailor this value prop specifically to your audience, which might be possible if you’ve done research on them ahead of time. Keep it simple, and focus on the value. Here’s an example from a new company I’m creating: 

“I’m building a platform to connect blockchain capital to real world investments”

Vs. 

“I’m creating a way for crypto holders to invest in real world assets”. 

While both lines say the same thing, the second option outlines the value proposition more clearly.
