Starting a new company can be a lot easier than you might think. Most states have fairly adept online portals for managing business entities and new filings. Follow the guide below to have your new business up and running by the end of the day.
The first step in filing a new LLC is locating your state’s online business portal. This is typically found on the secretary of state or corporation commission website, but you can generally find what you need by just Googling “[Your State] LLC Filing”. Following through the filing portal and paying your filing fee will register your new LLC with the state. Once completed you will be able to download your “Articles of Organization” or “Certificate of Formation” (same thing, different names by state), which is the first piece of identifying paperwork you’ll need for your new LLC.
